Airline Operations

Normally Airline Operations have four main departments which are further divided into sub-departments.

  1. Operational
  2. Maintenance
  3. Marketing
  4. finance

These four are the pillar of any airline working together to ensure smooth operations from selling tickets to allocating staff at the airport and inside the cabin and planning the flight routes.

Airline Operational Department

They are the heart of any airline operation as they play a vital role in flight planning which includes crew requirements, fuel requirements, route planning, and many more. Many airlines have different departments under operation but the most common are:

Crew Control- they are responsible for ensuring crew requirements for a flight with their logistics and legal requirements to ensure they are legally eligible to fly.

Flight dispatch- They are responsible for pre- and post-flight planning such as routes, fuel requirements, load-trim, and many more to ensure the flight will reach safety with the best efficiency or at less operational cost as much as possible with safety.

Metrological- They are responsible for giving whether details to the flight captain and to Flight dispatch for route planning and calculation of fuel.

The Operations department also includes the Airport Staff working for the airline such as RAMP agents and AOCS airport operations and customer service staff which ensure the smooth flow of passenger and their Baggage.

Airline Operations Maintenance Department

The maintenance department is a core part to ensure aircraft are safe to fly and they are responsible for time check performance by the MRO or in the case of the wet lease by the leasing company. As aircraft has to undergo checks before flight or timely checks such as A, B, and C checks.

Airline Operations Marketing Department

Customer service- As Airline is all about the customer experience because of huge competition and providing the best customer experience is an essential part of any airline solving their complaints or enquiring on time with the best possible solutions.

Reservations- The reservation department is the main source of finance selling the seat as much as possible is key for any airline operations as it is the main source of revenue for any airline and reservation departments help customers to buy tickets by understanding their needs and giving them the best options.

Airline Operations Finance Department.

The finance department ensures the airline has a smooth cash flow to meet day to expenses such as wages and salary of staff, Operational charges such as Fuel, Airport changes, or any maintenance.

The finance department includes the Human Resources department, financial planning department, Aircraft acquisition, or Ticket pricing.

This department helps the airline to meet its goals which can be long-term or short team.
