India’s First Elevated Taxiway: Reducing CO2 Emissions and Optimizing Fuel Efficiency

by AviationHub11 | Jul 9, 2023 | Aviation News

On 13th July 2023, India will get its first elevated taxiway, which will be a big step towards meeting India’s CO2 emission control and saving a lot of aviation turbine fuel. The India’s first elevated taxiway can handle aircraft like Airbus A380. The Delhi airport operator ensures that this elevated taxiway is explosive proof to ensure the safety of aircraft using the taxiway.

Let’s discuss some advantages of India’s First Elevated Taxiway.

1-Low CO2 emission – As due to India’s first elevated taxiway, aircraft have to travel less after landing or going for take-off, due to which fuel burn is less, resulting in lower CO2 emission.

2-Lesser Taxi time- As Earlier aircraft landed on 20/11 or 19/10 then they used to travel for around 30 minutes which will be now less than 10 minutes also aircraft has to travel 9 kilometers which will now be around 2 kilometers.

3-Aircraft turbine fuel saving – As while refueling the aircraft, airlines add taxi fuel that will be used during the taxi of the aircraft. But India’s first elevated taxiway reduces the taxi distance and saves time.
