Why airlines love the 777 family.
The Boeing 777 Family offers an excellent range, allowing airlines to operate ultra-long-haul flights with great passenger carrying, and is one of the most reliable aircraft ever made. Still, most airlines choose the 777 for long-haul routes. The Boeing 777 family is the most used aircraft by airlines for long-haul flights.
Emirates Airlines is the largest user of the 777 aircraft.
The 777x Folding Wings Trips
The folding wingtips extend aircraft wings by 3.5 meters during flight, but when on the ground, the wingtips fold, allowing the aircraft to taxi. Because of the larger wings, the airport does need to modify the taxiways.
It is the first of its kind used in civil aviation.
What is the advantage of Folding Wings?
The longer wings mean better fuel efficiency, which will help aircraft to use less fuel than their older variants. Also, due to longer wings airport needed to modify gates as well, but due to the folded wings, the Boeing 777X can use existing gates.
It also allows aircraft to get better climb performance.
